tags>>intense debate|wordpressAccording to the Saiunkoku website, the new cover will feature Shuurei, Riou (Jr), Shuuei, and Shusui. With Shusui in Shuuei’s arms. (0_o I wonder if that means the couple is going to become canon?)
Anyway, the cover itself is not out yet, but probably will come out sometime before the release date of 4/1.
tags>>saiunkokuThe title of the 4/1 book is “蒼き迷宮の巫女”, roughly translatable as “The Priestess of the Blue Maze” (although I like ‘Labyrinth” as well… I suppose I could also translate it as “The Priestess of the Azure Labyrinth” as that kanji is not the normal word for blue).
The summary given is: “Shuurei has awakened in the palace of the Hyou clan, who possess supernatural powers. Because she must meet the high priestess Ruka in order to leave the sealed-off palace, she seeks Shusui, who possesses the power “Senrigan” (thousand-league-eye). Meanwhile, in the capital, is the worst locust plague in history beginning….?! ”
I wonder who will make the cover this time? Shuurei is always on the cover, and since Shusui is mentioned, I suspect she might be as well (possibly also Shuuei?) However, maybe some of the characters from the capital will also be depicted. Anyway, I’m glad to hear that the author hasn’t forgotten Shusui. XD
tags>>saiunkokuNo offense, but could folks who comment please make some effort at using standard English spelling, grammar, punctuation, and especially capitalization? I realize that English is not the first language of some of you, but while English grammar and spelling might be complex, the rules of English capitalization are not, and everyone appreciates seeing well-formatted comments. Also, please refrain from using chatspeak (it’s “you,” not “u”) and ALL CAPS. There really is no need to SHOUT or use excessive punctuation. Plus, the ellipsis (…) is not supposed to be used the same way as a period (.).
Also, while I have no problem with people asking questions, often the answer is in earlier summaries or translations. Please try to read the earlier summaries or translations to see if the answer to your question might be there before asking.
Another thing: please try to make your comments somewhat on-topic to the post.
And, no requesting translations.
Do not ask “when” I will translate something either. I realize that many of you come from other countries, but within the English fandom, these kinds of questions are considered rude, and besides, why does the exact date matter? If it matters to you that much, you could try paying me market rates. XD Basically, I’m doing something time-consuming for free, and it happens when it happens.

tags>>saiunkoku|table of contents|translationAccording to various Japanese bloggers, in The Beans 14, it said that the next volume of the novel is coming out 4/1, and it won’t be a gaiden (thank the gods). This is extremely early.
This vol of The Beans, BTW, does not contain a short story, but it does contain a replacement cover (of Ou Ki, Anju, and Yuushun), and some other pic of the Censorate people (office group photo? XD), as well as some other stuff. I don’t own it, though, so I have no idea how true this all is.
BTW, Ou Ki, Anju, Yuushun (and Kouki) really should be on the cover for real sometime, IMHO.
tags>>saiunkokuAnyway, I have translated most of the book up to this point. Probably chapters 6 (I’m a couple of pages into ch. 6) and 7 will be each a post, and I’ll make the epilogue another post.
However, once I finish the entire thing, I may consolidate it into an HTML file and put that up. I also need to edit the translation for minor typos and other errors, as well as re-thinking some of my translation decisions. So you should consider all the translations to be rough drafts.
